== INTRODUCTION ==

This is an unofficial guide on what people should know when creating a section. Most of these are just my opinions, and is based on my experience on creating them.

This will only include the basics, if you have any questions on advance stuff, I suggest you go to the #sections channel in the Tower of Hell Discord Server and ask people there.

I also suggest you go watch the tutorials I've linked, I will not include most of the things in the videos in this blog post.

I'll probably make a more in-depth guide on how to use the plug-ins, creating and submitting the section (even though you can watch the tutorials) if this blog post actually gets more attention, because it would feel like a waste of time typing it if no one's gonna read it anyway.

== PART 2: GUIDELINES ==
Tips, rules and suggestions on what to do.

GENERAL[]

1. Your Section Must Not Break Any ROBLOX Rules.

2. You must be 13+ to join the Discord server.

3. If You are Making a Game For Players to Test Your Sections, Set It to R6: Go to Game Settings > Avatar > Avatar Type: R6 > Save.

4. Do Not Have Any Scripts in Your Section: Except for the ones that come with the ToH Plug-In. Though this rule depends on the circumstance.

5. Do Not Touch, Remove, or Change the "Center" Part in the Template.

5. Explore Different Sections/Obbies and Take Inspiration From Them: You can take inspirations from other sections made by the community or maybe go to different obbies such as Difficulty Charts and JToH.

6. More Guidelines Can Be Found in the "README" Script Found in the Toh Plug-in in Roblox Studio.

DETAILS AND STYLE[]

1. Have a Consistent Style Throughout Your Section: It would be unnatural if there's a sphere in a section made up of trusses.

2. Make Sure There is No Z-fighting: Where two blocks on the same plane have a weird "glitchy" effect.

3. The Color of The Section Should Be Visually Appealing: It should have a color that fits the section well.

4. The Name Should Correlate With the Section.

5. Don't Overdetail: Tower of Hell has a simplistic style and your section must fit in with that simplistic style. If you put your section in a tower, that section shouldn't look out of place.

6. Make Sure Everything Is Perfectly Aligned.

7. Mess Around With the Angles of Your Parts: Tilted parts can often look more appealing compared to a normal horizontal part.

8. Use Killparts as Additional Detail: Add killparts on top of walls, edges of parts, etc.

9. Don't Have Any Parts That Go Outside the Section: It should be within the walls of the section.

10 . Only Use Plastic, and Neon Material on Parts and Killparts, Respectively: Don't use anything else.

11. Don't Change Anything in the Part's Code (Reflectance, Transparency, Cancollide, Etc): Unless it's the size, or color, which is completely fine.

12. Do Not Use Decals, Unions, Sits, Meshes and Low Friction Parts.

13. The Section Should Have a Consistent Color: If your section has a blue color, every single part in it should also be blue.

PARTS[]

The only parts that you can use in a section are:

ROBLOX Parts: Block, Sphere, Wedge, Cylinder, Truss, and Different Constraints

Tower of Hell Parts: Sliding Platform, Disappearing Platform, Killpart, and Conveyor

GAMEPLAY AND OBSTACLES[]

1. Try to Make Your Obstacles Varied: Basic jumps can be boring and repetitive. Though simplicity is often good, as long as you know what to make.

2. Instead of Just Simple Walking, Add in Some Other Obstacles: Like headhitters and wraparounds or maybe something that has never been used in a section.

3. Spread Out Your Obstacles: It will be a lot more interesting compared to a simple straight path.

4. Don't Make Your Section Too Hard or Luck Based: Test your section to make sure the average player can beat it, also check if all your moving parts and conveyors have the perfect speed and isn't too fast or too slow. Do not use advance techniques such as long wraparounds, ladder flicking, and glitches.

5. Don't Make Your Parts Too Thin: Go as low as 1 stud. You can do 0.5 studs but don't overuse it. This only applies to parts that the player must walk on.

6. Don't Make Your Section Too Long: A section should have a maximum completion time of around 30-60 seconds. But this is certainly up to you on how long you want your section to be.

7. The Section Should Be Beatable Without Shitflock.

8. Make the Route Simple: Your section should be simple to go through and isn't confusing to the player.

9. Don't Create Waiting Sections: These are sections that make the player wait for long periods of time, an example of this is Switching Sides and The Agent Returns. Waiting based sections are fine to be made, but are usually frowned upon by the community.

INCOMPATIBILITY[]

Learn more about it at: https://tower-of-hell.fandom.com/wiki/Incompatibility

START INCOMPATIBILITY[]

This is incompatibility that happens at the start of the section.

1. If You Make Your Section Too Low, You'd Get a Lot of Incompatibility Issues: To avoid this, add in a truss, or some jumps to raise your sections so it doesn't interfere with the section below it.

2. Avoid Building Your First Parts at the Middle of the Starting Platform: This is because a lot of sections end with a truss at the middle, thus leading to incompatibility.

END INCOMPATIBILITY[]

This is incompatibility that happens at the end of the section and also with the section above it.

1. Try Not to Make Your Sections Go Too High: Players can hit their head on the next section.
